Yoga for Community Inclusion

 Most Thursdays, 1:15PM - 2:00PM at Omtown Yoga Studio

Located in Nanaimo, BC, Canada, Nanaimo Supportive Lifestyles Ltd. works with Adults with Cognitive Disabilities.

The services we offer include some of the following: 

  • Individualized 1-1 Service: Offers time with a support worker 1-1 for doing a range of activities tailored to the your needs.

  • Daytime Group Services Offers a daytime small group services with 2 staff for 6 clients with a focus on Community Involvement, Vocational and Active/Healthy participation in the community.

  • Wednesday Adult Social Group Nights: Offers Adults an opportunity to get together to do recreational activities at night in a group setting. With 2 staff for 6 clients.

  • Fitness Goals: A fitness program tailored for adults with cognitive disabilities with the help of qualified fitness staff.

  • Yoga & Mindfulness skills: If desired, yoga, breathing and mindfulness skills are taught to help clients handle daily stresses more effectively.

    • Yoga for Community Inclusion: a free, drop in group yoga class held at OmTown yoga studio Thursdays from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Join Us, no referral required!

  • Bus training: Being able to use the bus is important to increase the independence of our clientèleWe often get referrals specifically for bus training.

  • Board Game Group: meeting once a week to play games, with encouragement of developing leadership and communication skills.

    • This is a free, drop in service that meets at our office Tuesdays 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Join us, no referral required!

  • Hiking: Nature hikes on single track trails around Nanaimo. These hikes are about an hour in length. They do require a moderate amount of fitness and high mobility along with sturdy shoes that can get dirty! Ideal for people dealing with stress, anxiety and looking for a quiet activity in nature.
